When developer is through with designs its important to estimate the labor requirement in wall construction.Ideally the length of the wall should determine the manpower required. If the work is in foundations it will not be as labor intensive as works on first floor upwards. This means that the developer must think clearly how the works will be carried to make an informed choice on the cost of erecting the wall.

On average one mason and two unskilled laborers can erect about forty five meters of stonework or brickwork up to a reasonable height. Therefore when to estimate labor in wall construction its important to note that work decreases as the wall height increases. Its also good to point out that walls should not be erected more than four or five courses per day since the mortar joints are wet and still spongy thus cannot take up too much weight.

The estimate for labor in wall construction is achieved through the above formula. The general process of erection can proceed while checking on the use of materials to prevent wastage.Cement or lime mortar should only be mixed with water before use and should not be more than forty minutes due to loss of strength.Walls should be cured continuously by wet using a hose pipe or watering can and can be protected by using Hessian sheeting in hot weather.

Estimated labor in wall construction should be adequate to erect it satisfactorily. The labor should rake out mortar joints and clean up the debris arising after a days work with no additional pay. While the estimate is just an estimate its also important for the client to compare different quotations before making up his mind on whom to choose from. The developer should also cross check around different sites for workmanship comparison.
