A jogging track should allow at least two people to run or walk hand in hand. The width should be minimum four feet. Different materials can be used for the ground. Gravel, murram, concrete slabs, flagstones, bricks and rubber are some of the materials that are used. It is important to note the cost of the materials, since some are expensive to use. Before commence of work, the ground is thoroughly prepared. The drainage should also be checked.
The construction of the track starts with identifying the location. The ground is excavated to remove the top soil. After this, the soil is leveled, consolidated and compacted. A drum roller is used for compacting the soil while it is watered. If the development has sloppy grounds, the reducing of levels is done by cutting the terrain by a good gradient. When cutting is not enough to reduce the slopes, steps can be made. This steps are three feet in length.
The bedding material is poured on the soil and spread to a thickness of two inches. Sand or quarry dust well watered is used for the beds. When laying the concrete slabs or stones, a strip of two inches is left in between. This will allow water to percolate into the ground. Grass is planted in the spaces. Shrubs, flowers and trees are planted on both sides for offering a shade. Resting places and benches should be placed along the jogging track.
