When laying wood blocks, the floor screed should be dry and cured. After laying the timber, water should not be poured on the floor. A wet mop can be used for cleaning. The floor screed should be finished with a steel float to make it very smooth. It should not have bumps or cracks. There should be no air pockets below the blocks. The adhesive should be spread with a comb like scrapper. The timber to use shall be well seasoned and dry so that it does not shrink after laying. Pest control should be done on the wood after sanding and before polishing.
The floor screed should be scrapped to remove any mortar or dirt stuck on it. It is swept with a soft broom to remove any dust. The area to be laid is marked. This should be three widths of a block from the wall. The adhesive or wood glue is spread and combed on the screed. In a diagonal pattern, the first piece is laid diagonally. The next block is laid at half the the length of a block. The floor is then completed within the marked area using this pattern while pounding with a rubber mallet. The skirting is done with three blocks laid straight along the wall.
After finishing laying wood blocks, a sanding machine is used to make it smooth. The floor is first sanded rough. Filling is then done using fine timber dust and adhesive. Sanding is then repeated medium smooth. After this, it is sanded very smooth. Once it is complete, a pest control is painted on the timber. After it is dry, the desired wood polish is painted on this floor. The polish should be done in three coats. The wall skirting is then fixed. The painting is done on the floor and skirting to match. Each coat should dry as per manufacturers instructions.
